When A Lamb Runs, It Runs Fast
THE COLLECTIVE PROJECT
Collective Project – was a chance for me to hone my fabrication skills in the props department. The turnaround for this show was extremely tight but it was equally a deep plunge into working for the first time with a substantial portion of my year group, as I had a year out and subsequently did not know most of them.
Though I was performing in this piece also, it did not stretch me in that capacity. Rather it was being back in the workshop and working closely with technicians to troubleshoot as I made props out of assorted items, which gave me the most learning. Paired with the limited amount of time, much was figured out on the spot.
The highlight of the props was making a fake metal railing for a ‘window’ out of two bits of wood, black hollow tube cut up and then heat gunned to hammer down the edges, finally to cut into points.
As I wish to continue in fabrication jobs after graduation, this was just another string to my bow.
