BUG RAVE no. 2
interactive sculptural + light installation, June. 2025. Glastonbury Festival.
INTERCONNECTIVITY..
.. and play are crucial focal points within my practice.
Utilising the concept of ‘pollination’ as a spring board and the heavy nightlife of Shangri-La, the aim for BUG RAVE no. 2 was to create an interactive, installation, where audience members would have to play together to make the piece function properly.
At it’s centre is a disco ball which can be hand cranked, surrounding it on three separate polls are sculptural flowers - foxgloves, hollyhocks + snapdragons - each with a hidden light, hooked up to a delay timer and button, which when pressed, beams onto the disco ball for 20-40 seconds.
Meaning that; to keep the rave going.. the audience must play together to keep all the light buttons pressed/flowers pollinated and the disco ball turning.
